i made this chicken schnitzel for dinner last night.. served with lots of lemon - amazing. only change, i minced 5 cloves of garlic for the marinade, instead of smashing 3-4 as per recipe (seriously love garlic) this recipe (which featured on design sponge recently) is from the beautifully photographed Israeli food blog matkonation where their ethos is to cook, photograph, eat and share.

it was back to e Cucina for an easy Sunday lunch yesterday.. we enjoyed Fusilli alla Genovese (handmade type pasta w/ragu of baby veal in a light white wine sauce) and a beautiful salad with syrup-y sweet baby figs + gorgonzola, washed down with Campari's and Rosamara rosé.

*music wise.. what has to be one of my favourite Italian songs was playing! much to the dismay of my partner (a live concert version of Musica E' i hadn't heard before, by the one and only Eros Ramazotti) ..so this cool lyrics translations site, will come in handy indeed

but at Life Instyle recently, i stitched them down the middle to hang for display - and a few comments, like how much for the bunting? ah, not for sale. i find buntings typically boring, as every man/woman and his dog makes a triangular one, so this has got me thinking dots - but smaller, perhaps confetti like.. and maybe paper, woolly felt or something else for some solid punches of colour. yes, as soon as the breaks come back on and it stops feeling so all systems go, i will be back! with some confetti love!

lazy day in Melbourne today, wasn't up for much after a tiring working week here, but good news is 12 new stockists. pleased as cheese! no idea what that means (i'm pretty tired)
anyway, today saw a visit to the National Gallery and Tessuti Fabrics.. bought a very cool Japanese children's sewing book, one of those handy little sleeve pressing rolls made from sawdust i've been meaning to buy for ages! and some 1mt. sampling lengths of lovely colourful trim i'm hoping to source when back in Sydney. it's not all bad, a beautiful fig candle was my treat :)
in the hotel lobby now with a couple hours to kill before the flight back home tonight, enjoying dips and crackers. and bread. and (a) beer. just to add to the mountain of carbs consumed this week (pasta and fat chips with basil aoli almost every night for dinner, not to mention the couple apple rhubarb crumble's + cheesecake. oh my. skinny jeans, not so skinny and definitely tighter than when i arrived)

what does this mean?

the briefly mentioned gallery space from a couple posts back, happened to have a room available upstairs, and i happened to ask how much.. and yes, sold again! completely unplanned. and with my lovely paper fiend of a friend Lisa of lox+savvy, we are in love! words cannot convey just how grateful and excited we are. although, i'm sure easily expressed through interpretive dance (speaking for myself here of course) it's an intimate (ok small) Paddington studio, painted top to bottom white + light filled (the light filled bit being very important) predestined for us maybe? who knows. our crazy creative space, or our cups of earl grey tea creative space.. either way, it's space we both need because the dining table just ain't cutting it! so, organising a lovely big custom made workbench/patternmaking table was first on the list.
and as cliched as this sounds, we both seriously love what we so passionately make and do.. Lisa, creating all things fine paper.. and me, creating all things sewing fine liberties. so hello new workspace! did i mention white? love. and a cute dog called Stella for some company of the four legged kind. the best kind. wonder if she can sew? could so do with an assistant right now..

ok.. about the only time i will post about something non work related, but i felt compelled. i'm friendly and all, don't get me wrong, just seriously private (and boring, and busy!) a quick visit to Kaleidoscope Gallery today *space formerly known as Ruby Slipper had me fall hook, line and sinker for this.. called Ear Horne (oil on canvas with cotton crochet) and created by sister duo Meghan and Kathleen Brewster as part of their exhibition 'same bones' on now! Meghan paints. these are on Wynona's blog, but thought i'd share in my visual merchandise "genius" as she so kindly put it *i can assure everyone out there who has come this far in reading, that there
is no genius. just a budget to stick to and only ever using what i love.. and if it's functional, even better.

and so friends, clockwise from left.. fresh cut flowers are a must, with creamy freesias a fave. yellow wooden chair (sporting a broken leg caused in transit by psycho courier from the last tradeshow, but you can't tell here, and yes i am not over it)
new made to look old boat oar from Antikt, Crown St. Surry Hills used as a rack (held up by wooden curtain hooks from Bunnings, my favourite store in the world!) monkey friend by Danish brand Maileg from Kidostore in Clovelly (positioned to cover ugly power cords in the corner) white bench from Dough Up On Bourke, Bourke St. Surry Hills (fell in love with this from across the room because it's white and i love all things white! seriously.. there was soundtrack music playing as i moved towards it in slow motion.
a visit to this store is a must!) drawers from a daggy 10yr+ old Ikea plywood cabinet in our kitchen which has 2o of these handy drawers as part of it.. i use it for storing sewing threads and bits (just changed the knobs and stained it blue years ago, but it turned out a stylish ashy grey blue colour) and finally.. boltless metal shelving unit from Officeworks which has an industrial look (did i mention boltless?! a snap to put together and undo with only a hammer needed) using a hammer and powerdrill sure feels good!

pictured is #7 brooch JO LEE made from rare Liberty COTTON TWILL - one of 10 "ooh ah, that really is special" brooches shipped to Georgie Love recently. why so special? each is made from a (very kindly) donated stash of Liberty fabric swatches, some going as far back as 2003, and so, super duper one-of-a-kind as i can only squeeze one brooch out of each swatch.. told you OOH AH.

final quick mention, if a particular Liberty Print is out of stock in a little dress or cushion at Lindesay, all you have to do is ask me to whip it up *only catch, having to slot in a pre-Christmas delivery on individual orders due to being a little tied up on wholesale,

laptop is dying a slow death here with more lines appearing across the screen, so i haven't bothered with scanning all pages in the latest Inside Out Christmas (YAY!) issue featuring miss béba cushions + brooches.. just a taster of the cool photography.
all you need to know is, a lovely lady by the name of Shannon Fricke styled the great kids story titled 'angels & little demons' and seriously, do yourself a favour and check out her ridiculously beautiful blog (..unlike mine) and if anyone's interested, drop me an e-mail for purchasing info or come along to the Balmain Art & Craft Show happening this weekend. i won't be there selling my handmade wares, but little Christmas elves will.. i met them today when i drove over to Balmain to do a drop off.. they're lovely, and they don't bite. very important! (yes. deliriously. tired)

i'ts Friday and i'm upset. a couple months ago, a faint line appeared on my laptop. i thought.. hmm, that's weird?
and just today, 2 more. this now brings the total to 8. not good.
i fear the LCD screen is about to blow. big time. upset, will have to make some calls on Monday. i'd take a photo to show this hideous sight, but my camera died mid year didn't it!
and so, i've decided I DO NOT LIKE TECHNOLOGY.

otherwise, no rest for the wicked as lots of sewing here trying to get some of these orders out and happening! and today was so divine in Sydney, love love love. Spring is almost here!

also showing on the 4th floor in the Liberty store, is an exhibition called Prints Charming running from the 8th August - 2nd September, dedicated to all things iconic Liberty style.

so excited! (i do realise i have to stop saying this) miss béba had fun at Life Instyle down in Melbourne last week, but i didn't take a camera along so the lovely Dione of fish lilly (one of the many cool people i met in the Kids Instyle section) has offered to e-mail some pics. and somehow, i managed to score a corner posi last minute.. prime real estate in trade show/market circles. anyway, really pleased with the overall positive vibe at the show, keen interest + orders received = i should probably be very stressed with all the sewing that needs to be done for Aug/Sept deliveries, but visualising reaching 20+ stockists come end Sept, has given me Superman stamina! alas, i do resemble a troll but you can't have it both ways. will update new stockists on the site early Sept X

+ another quick mention here on the LMNOP blog :)
